Principal's Message

Greetings Simcoe Elementary Families!

On behalf of the staff at Simcoe Elementary School, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2019-20 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that our children can achieve their highest potential. Our children need support from both the home and school in order to be successful learners. Undoubtedly, a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

I think a brief introduction about me is appropriate, especially for those of you who I have not had the opportunity to work with in the district. My name is Maria Batarao, your school principal. For over fifteen years, I have been privileged to work in various roles in the Wapato School District – Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Administrator. Presently, I am in my seventh year as a principal, and I am looking forward to my 16th year (and more) of service to the Wapato school community.

In a nutshell, Simcoe Elementary will continue to focus on the following shared goals during the 2019 – 2020 school year, which include:

  • Student Achievement. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to increase student achievement in all subject areas. To achieve this goal, we will implement new and effective educational tools and practices through data-driven decision-making, whole-school learning, and communities of practice. We will place strong focus on our professional development, our students, and their parents.
  • Safety. We will put “Safety for All” as our top priority at Simcoe Elementary. We will work together to provide our students a safe, healthy, and positive learning environment. In order to do this, we must establish a system for clear communication and implement best practices for school safety.
  • Partnerships. Simcoe Elementary will strive to build stronger partnerships with our community stakeholders, including parents, families, local community businesses and community associations. We will create programs geared towards empowering our parents to get involved in helping their children succeed in school.

This is going to be an AWESOME year of learning!

Once again, welcome to Simcoe Elementary! I am looking forward to working alongside you in molding the minds of our Simcoe kids.

Sincerely,

Maria Batarao
